There are lots of exciting opportunities for our pupils to perform - at pop-up events, outreach programmes, local fairs, competitions and biennial shows. It is an important component of what we offer and as well as being great fun builds confidence and camaraderie.

In addition parents are invited to watch their child’s class twice a year (in the Autumn and Summer term) and there is a short performance at the end of all our holiday workshops and summer schools.

Pupils are invited to enter various competitions both externally and internally. The London Regional Awards and the Dance Challenge Competition are both held at the Royal Academy of Dance’s HQ - past pupils have come away triumphant winning the Musicality Award, Choreographic Award, Sallie Lewis Award and Overall Winner. We also hold an annual Choreography Competition which is open to all pupils in Grade 1 and above.

outreach

This year we are very excited to be pioneering London Children’s Ballet latest venture, ‘Ballet in a Box’. We have been given the rights to perform a specially adapted touring version of one of LCB’s full length works, ‘The Secret Garden’ and will be visiting a number of venues within the care sector later this term as part of our own outreach programme in collaboration with LCB.

  holiday workshops

Holiday Workshops are held during every half-term break and the beginning of our Christmas, Easter and Summer holidays. These are designed to bring the classics (‘Swan Lake’, ‘Nutcracker’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ etc.) to life using original and/or adapted choreography, costume and crafts. We also hold an annual Summer School which consists of classes in a variety of different dance genres and culminates in a short performance at the end of the week.

Please see Events page and e-mail sarah@theballetschool.co.uk for more details.
